Gunner's Story:

Nicknamed "The Gentle Giant", at three years old and just over 31 inches in height, Gunner is one of the largest Shiloh Shepherds around. With his gentle demeanour, OFA Excellent hips, playful attitude, conformation/working titles, and ominous size he is a wonderful stud candidate for select quality breeding programs (frozen collection is available where geography prevents natural breeding).

In November 2005 Gunner's OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals) final hip results were announced. We are extremely pleased to report that Gunner is one of the rare Shilohs that has been awarded a certification by OFA of "Excellent"!

The OFA is the authority on canine health testing. Their certification and reports are world renouned. OFA "Excellent", per the OFA online database of results, has only been awarded to a limited number of shiloh shepherds since the first shiloh in the database in 1994 (as of the time that we received the report)! Gunner is truly in the ranks of an elite group of shilohs in this category, the best of the best.

In 2005 Gunner completed his "Triple Crown" having finished his Breed, Canadian, and American Rare Breed Championships!

In March 2006 Gunner became the first ever Shiloh Shepherd to earn a Canadian Grand Championship title with the Rare Breed Club of South Western Ontario.

In addition to his new Grand Champion title, Gunner was awarded the 2005 Grand Victor, was the 2005 Top Canadian Shiloh Shepherd, finished 4th Overall in the in the Top Dog awards with the RBCSWO, and earned a "Top Dog" title with the NSBR (breed registry).

In December 2006 Gunner was named the Top Shiloh Shepherd Plush (they divide the Shiloh's into two breeds - smooth and plush), the First Place in the Herding Group, and 4th Place Overall in the Top Dog Awards with the RBCSWO.

In the Spring of 2007 Gunner was names the SSBA Grand Victor, presented wih NSBR Top Dog status for the second year in a row, and National Select status with the breed club - ISSDC.

In 2008, we officially retired Gunner from the ring, It's been a wonderful show career for Gunner, and we'll start to tabulate all the Best in Shows, Reserve Best in Shows, Best in Specialty, Best of Breed, and Group Placements that Gunner has been fortunate enough to win.

When Gunner came to our home in 2003 we never thought we'd like to show, and certainly didnt anticipate his success. We acquired him as a family member, and that's what he'll always be to us above all else. But we're extremely proud of the mark he's made on the breed, the reaction of people when the meet him and experience his size and temperament, and are quite lucky to have had so many friends and supporters at the shows.

Gunner can be visted at any of the RBCSWO Shows in Ontario (Toronto Sportsman Show, Tillsonburg, Caledonia, Woodstock, Petrolia, and Brampton), as well as possible attendance to some ARBA & Rarities shows. In addition to his championship titles, in 2004 Gunner was awarded the Canine Good Citizen Award with Gunshot Certification by the American Kennel Club. In the fall of 2006 Gunner earned his Herding Instinct title with the Rare Breed Performance Club of Ontario.
